McGuinn Elected President of Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC - Wade McGuinn, CMB of the McGuinn Group will serve as President of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia (HBAGC) in 2011.  He has been a Licensed Builder in South Carolina since 1985 and an SC Licensed Real Estate Broker since 1984. He joined the Home Builders Association in 1994.  He and his company have been active in association events including exhibiting in many Home & Garden Shows and Home Improvement Shows and as a participant in Parade of Homes events.    McGuinn Group consists of McGuinn Homes and McGuinn Construction.  McGuinn Homes serves as the only full service residential construction management firm in the Midlands. During the company’s 25+ years in the home building industry, McGuinn Construction has thousands of skillfully constructed custom and tract homes to its credit. McGuinn has built more custom homes in the Metropolitan area than any other custom homebuilder in Columbia. In 2000, added land development projects to its vast portfolio. In addition to being a businessman, Mr. McGuinn makes spending time with his family a priority.  He is married to his wife Janet of 27 years and has three children.  Wade is also the proud grandparent of four grandchildren. As a member of Union United Methodist Church, he has served as a Sunday school teacher at Epworth Childrens Home at Epworth United Methodist Church for the last two years.  Wade is an active member of the community, both locally and internationally.  He volunteers his time and resources to Habitat for Humanity, the Harvest Hope Food Bank, and the Haiti Children Project, which he and his wife founded years ago. Serving as officers of the HBAGC are Tony Thompson, CMB, CGR, CAPS, CGP, Remodeling Services Unlimited, Inc. as Vice President; Hal Von Nessen, RESH  Marketing as Associates Vice President; David Clark, Clark’s Services, Inc. as Treasurer; and John Covert, Covert Homes, LLC as Secretary. In addition, the HBAGC elected two Associates Directors and two Builder Directors to the board for terms of two years each.  The Associate Directors are Jennifer Harding, CSP with Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS, and Harry Walsh of Civil Engineering of Columbia, Inc.  The new Builder Directors are Clint Galloway of Capitol City Homes, Inc., and Eddie Yandle of Executive Construction, LLC. Chairpersons of HBA councils also have a seat on the HBA Board of Directors.  Included here are Bill Dixon of Mungo Homes, Inc. serving as Chairman of the Land Development Council; Marlene Sheard of Bank of America Mortgage Corp. serving as Chairman of the Sales and Marketing Council of Greater Columbia; Scott Heron of Creative Tile as Chairman of the HBA of Greater Columbia Remodelers; and, Joseph Gilmore of Gilmore Consulting Services, LLC as Chairman of the Green Building Council of Greater Columbia. McGuinn will be installed as President of the Home Builders Association at the Annual HBA Holiday Ball on December 10.  All new board members will begin their terms in January 2011.
